The Exciting Future of the Automotive Industry: 3 Reasons to Enroll in an Auto Mechanic Course
Autonomous Cars Will Soon Drive Themselves
Although the use of computer technology in cars is still a relatively recent development for anyone studying in an auto mechanic course, it has already begun to pave the way for a variety of advances in the next generation of models. This includes artificial intelligence features which have the power to operate the car without a driver, known as autonomous cars. Industry reports have projected that nearly 70 per cent of all new cars could have self-driving features by 2030 as part of a new era in driverless automation.
Autonomous cars, other than seeming like something out of a sci-fi novel, have numerous benefits which are attracting significant investment from companies like Toyota and Ford. Additionally, Tesla has already begun producing cars with semi-autonomous systems, and hopes to complete a coast-to-coast trip without any human interference. One of the main factors attracting companies to autonomous cars is not only that they have the potential to save commute times and cut down on traffic, but that by removing the element of human error, fatal and non-fatal accidents can be avoided. An automated system cannot become distracted, tired, or impaired, and can potentially save billions on public expenditures, as well as many people’s lives.
Grads of Auto Mechanic Courses May See More EVs
Students in car mechanic training might know that hybrid and electric cars are already making their way into the automotive market. In 2016, the global electric car inventory totalled more than 2 million vehicles, with a steadily rising rate of adoption, meaning that electric cars will soon begin saturating the automotive market, including Canada as well as the U.S. The integration of electric vehicles into mainstream use is an exciting and innovative way to address the decrease in natural resources, climate change, and renewable energy trends.
New Car Models Will Have More Wireless Features
With the recent additions of onboard computerized features like GPS, engine emission monitoring, and various sensors, it’s not exactly surprising to hear that manufacturers are taking automotive technological enhancements forward.
