Summer has officially begun, and for car lovers this means it’s finally time to put away the winter vehicles and break out the summertime rides. Of course, everyone knows that nothing says “summer” more than a sleek convertible!
If you’ve recently graduated from an automotive training program, you might be tasked with working on a few convertibles this summer – so you’ll definitely want to learn all about some of the brand new 2015 models. Check out the specs on some of our favourites:
2015 Ford Mustang
This classic American muscle car is a great choice for anyone looking to purchase a new convertible this summer. The 2015 Ford Mustang is a 2-door coupe that boasts 4 seats and is available with both a 3.7L V6 engine (standard) and a 5.0L V8 engine. The standard model comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and features anti-lock brakes, 17-inch aluminium wheels, AdvanceTrac electronic stability and much more. Graduates of mechanic colleges know that this particular car is also quite safe as it features a wide variety of airbags including side seat mounted airbags, driver and passenger airbag head extension, and driver and passenger knee airbags. The Ford Mustang convertible is recognized as one of the top 10 most affordable convertible cars of 2015 with a starting price of approximately $32, 000 CAD.

2015 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive
As its name suggests, this tiny electric vehicle is designed to hold two people comfortably. The 2015 Smart Fortwo is a 2-door and 2-seat car that is available in either a Coupe or Cabriolet. Of course, students enrolled in automotive courses know that the Cabriolet version of this car is best for the hot summer months, since it’s convertible. The standard version of this car features an automatic transmission. It is also environmentally friendly as it boasts a 0-cylinder engine that can get up to 122mpg on city streets and 93-mpg on the highway.
The 2015 Smart Fortwo comes with everything one might expect from any new vehicle including; automatic air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, airbags, power mirrors and more. The Cabriolet version of this car is slightly more expensive than the non-convertible Coupe and starts at about $29, 990 CAD.
2015 Fiat 500c Pop
This is one of the most affordable convertibles on the market today as its pricing starts at approximately $19, 190 CAD. The 2015 Fiat 500c Pop has an incredibly fun and fresh look and it comes in a wide range of bright colours including; laser blue, pearl yellow, granite crystal and many more. This car has a 1.4L 4-cylinder engine and it reaches a total of 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
2015 Audi R8 Spyder
Certified automotive service advisors know that this particular model ranks among some of the most expensive convertibles of 2015. In fact, the convertible R8 Spyder has a base price of $150, 300 CAD. Some auto-lovers might think this Audi looks incredibly similar to another vehicle – and they’re right. Its style is based on the classic Lamborghini Gallardo. The Spyder is available with a 4.2-litre V8 engine, or a 5.2-litre V10 engine, and the standard version of the Audi R8 Spyder features an automatic engine.
