Prepare for Auto Mechanic Career Success: In Discussion With Assim Ait

Embarking on a career as an auto mechanic offers a rewarding path and endless growth opportunities. The automotive industry in Canada continues to expand, and auto mechanics are at the core of keeping the country’s vehicles running smoothly.

At Automotive Training Centres (ATC), we understand that students need the right knowledge, hands-on experience, and qualifications to thrive in this dynamic field. We recently discussed with one of our students, Assim Ait, who revealed how he’s been preparing for career success at ATC.

Our conversation started with Assim’s journey to ATC. “I just got here into this country about 6 or 7 months ago. This was a big choice for me to be here. My old career would not fit very well in this country so I had an opportunity to change careers and to start a new life over here. I was just browsing online and found this school. This is something that I was very passionate about since I was a kid – cars, fixing stuff, figuring out problems. So, I said why not!”

A Comprehensive Certification Program Designed for Success

One of the first steps to a successful auto mechanic career is earning the right certification. ATC’s Auto Mechanic Certification program in Toronto guides you through every stage, meeting Ontario’s requirements. Our three-level program offers 240 hours of training plus 6,000 hours of supervised hands-on experience.

This balance of classroom learning and practical work is essential in developing confidence and skills. When asked about his favourite part of the auto mechanic certification program at ATC, Assim said: “The people, the instructors – we have great instructors that provide great quality mentorship. It’s the lab days where we get to practice in the shop and the quality of the courses themselves.”

Preparing Students to Earn the Red Seal Certification for National Mobility

ATC recognizes that many students are looking for opportunities that go beyond their local region. The auto mechanic industry offers incredible mobility, especially if you earn the prestigious Red Seal Certification. This designation, available upon completing 9,720 documented hours of related work experience, enables you to work anywhere in Canada.

At our automotive school, we prepare students for the challenges and requirements of earning this certification, ensuring they have the necessary skills and qualifications to excel wherever their career takes them.

With this certification, your auto mechanic career can expand nationwide, allowing you to pursue success on your terms. As Assim mentioned, relocating can mean your qualifications don’t always transfer. Our program equips you to meet the demand for car repairs anywhere.

Advancing Your Auto Mechanic Career at ATC

One of the major benefits of pursuing an auto mechanic career is the range of advancement opportunities available. ATC’s Auto Mechanic Certification prepares you not only for entry-level positions such as lube specialist or brake and alignment technician but also for roles that require more specialized knowledge and experience. You can become a muffler specialist, electrical technician, or even a journeyman mechanic with time and dedication.

Assim, passionate about cars, feels fully prepared to realize his childhood dream. When we asked him what his dream auto mechanic job looked like, he said, “My own shop with a lot of muscle cars.”

Thanks to our instructors, plenty of hands-on experience in the shop, and, of course, his own passion and desire to succeed, Assim’s auto mechanic career goals are well within reach.
