The Auto Mechanic applicant must be 19 years of age or a high school graduate to enter the Auto Mechanic Pre-Apprenticeship Program. All students go through a qualifying interview to ensure that they are suitable for the program.
In the interview we are looking for the needed language and math skills for the program of study. If there is a concern about their English or math skills, students will be given the ATC Test of Language and Math Comprehension to determine their level of competence.
I searched for a school that could take me but the waiting list was too long. When I contacted ATC they tried very hard to get me into a class right away. It worked and I started immediately. The thing that impressed me was the shop was well equipped and neat. My instructor worked very hard at making sure we were all on the same page.
