Volkswagen is Reducing Factory Emissions
Cars don’t just produce emissions when they’re on the road. In fact, factories can be a prime source of greenhouse gas emissions too. That’s why Volkswagen has made great strides to limit emissions produced by its factories, as well as reduce the amount of resources they consume. Between 2011 and 2015 it has reduced its factories’ consumption of resources by almost 25% through the implementation of over 3,400 environmental projects and measures. But Volkswagen isn’t stopping there. Its goal is to reduce its factories’ water, waste, and energy consumption, as well as bring down its solvent and C02 emissions by 25% come 2018.
Grads from Service Advisor Courses Will Love VW’s New Start/Stop Tech
When you begin your automotive service advisor career, chances are you might see a few VWs roll into your shop, and when they do, you should know that their engines will shut off automatically when the car is placed in neutral. Volkswagen has figured out that a lot of gas is guzzled while sitting still both in traffic and at red lights, so it has implemented a technology that smoothly stops then starts the car’s engine in order to save gas. The technology is currently available on all new VW models, so when you graduate from your automotive service advisor training and begin working in an auto repair shop, you will probably run into a VW with one of these systems.
Service Advisor Courses Will Have You Knowing Engines Well; Here Is One More From VW
Students completing their automotive service advisor training might know that Volkswagen has some of the most fuel efficient gasoline engines on the planet. Although these engines are still perky and powerful, they also do a great job of making sure the planet’s ecosystem will stick around for a while. TSI engines are smaller, but are also supercharged to provide more torque when drivers need it. The 1.4-litre TSI Twincharger engine won the International Engine of the Year Award in its size category for the past five years as well as the Best Green Engine award in 2009.
