Grads of an Auto Mechanic Training Program May Work on the Powerful Ford F-150 Raptor
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor isn’t messing around. This monstrous truck has room for five passengers and enough power to haul up to 5,352 kilograms worth of camping gear, sporting vehicles, or whatever a driver feels the need to haul around. There are eight engine options that an automotive maintenance technician may encounter in the F-150 Raptor, the top of the line being the High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost engine, which boasts 450 horsepower at 5000 revs per minute and an impressive 510 of torque. This Ford can go from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in just 5.5 seconds, burning 15.6 (city) and 13.2 (highway) litres of fuel per hundred kilometres.
The Ram 1500 Boasts Impressive Horsepower and Torque
When Ram builds a truck, they take it seriously. After all, the brand’s entire lineup consists of pickup trucks and cargo vans. The Ram 1500 lives up to the brand’s reputation, promising 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque from its upper range eight or six-speed automatic, 5.7L HEMI VVT V8 engine, which was the 2017 winner of the Canadian Truck King Challenge.
The Ram 1500 beats out the F-150 Raptor in the fuel economy category with the highest-end engine offering 16.1 (city) and 11.5 (highway) litres per 100 kilometres, which graduates of an auto mechanic training program may know is quite impressive for a large pickup truck.
Auto Mechanic Training Grads May Encounter the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD
For enjoying Canada’s great outdoors, the 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500HD is a no-brainer. With two engine options, buyers can choose from either power or more power, with the top of the line diesel engine option offering a massive 910 lb-ft of torque and a hauling capacity of up to 23,300 pounds! Combined with 445 horsepower, the Silverado’s massive amounts of torque makes it the perfect option for towing a boat to a lake or hauling 4x4s into the mountains, so when a Silverado enters your shop once you become a mechanic, it’s likely it has experienced some wear and tear.
The GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali Packs a Punch
While the GMC Sierra 3500HD doesn’t match the Silverado’s hauling abilities, it still offers a notable conventional towing capacity of up to 20,000 pounds and can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in about seven seconds. The Sierra is built with drivers’ towing needs in mind, with features like the StabiliTrak, which features Hill Start Assist, Traction Control, and Trailer Sway Control. The truck’s Duramax 6.6L Diesel V8 engine option boasts 910 lb-ft of torque and 445 horsepower, far surpassing the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 Raptor.
