1. Millennials Love Driving the Volkswagen Golf
The Volkswagen Golf has been on the road since 1974, winning many awards including World Car of the Year in 2009 and Motor Trend Car of the Year in 2015. For professionals with careers in the auto industry, it’s no secret why this small vehicle is a draw for the Millennial generation. With prices for a brand new 2017 Golf starting at $19,195, young adults starting out their careers are likely to find the price within reach. In terms of marketing the vehicle, Volkswagen’s target purchaser for the Golf is a Millennial aged 18 to 35. In fact, 14 per cent of all of Volkswagen’s vehicles are sold to Millennial buyers.

According to Forbes, the Subaru WRX has the highest overall percentage of Millennial owners. Over 25 per cent of its buyers are aged 18 to 34. Thomas Libby, an analyst at IHS Automotive who tracks retail registration by demographics, explains the car’s popularity: “The WRX’s appeal is a combination of reasonable price, exceptional performance, and the cache of the Subaru brand”.
The Subaru WRX is a performance vehicle with a turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine and symmetrical full-time all wheel drive. The four-cylinder engine features 305 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque with a top speed of 240 kilometres per hour. The 2017 Subaru WRX’s pricing starts at $31,760, a much higher price than its favoured counterparts, making it the ideal vehicle for Millennials willing to splurge.

The Honda Civic has been a go-to vehicle for all age groups, even spending 18 years in the number one spot on Canada’s best-selling cars list. Reliability, price, and customization are all factors in why Millennials and other generations are so fond of Civics.
