Geneva Motor Show 2014 is Upon Us

Running from March 6th to March 16th, the Geneva Motor Show is one of the most celebrated and anticipated automotive shows in the world, always featuring a couple of amazing tricks up its sleeves that are sure to rev our engines. This year marks the 84th installment of the long-running automobile showcasing event, and if the pre-show buzz is any indication, it’s going to be a big one! So for everyone in automotive careers who can’t want to see what’s new this year, here’s a rundown of just some of the great unveils, debuts and stunning presentations that you can look forward to.

Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake

An expansion of their much-lauded R-S performance sport line, UK automaker Jaguar is unveiling its much-hyped and much drooled over Sportbrake model at this year’s show. With a 5 litre, supercharged V8 engine capable of reaching a top speed of 300 km/h, this purring beast has over 550 horsepower at its disposal. Not only that, but it gets an impressive 22 mpg in fuel economy, too! Talk about the best of both worlds! One of the most intriguing aspects of the Sportbrake is the addition of air intakes on the front bumper that help increase airflow to the supercharged engine. It’s sure to have your auto technician drooling.

Volvo Estate Concept

Another technologically stunning debut at this year’s show is Volvo’s new Estate Concept wagon, a luxurious and futuristic station wagon concept. As well as a gorgeous glass roof, orange-accented interior, beautiful automotive painting and a mesmerizing glowing crystal gear shift, it also sports an incredibly futuristic dashboard, complete with a touch screen, tablet-like interface. The technology marries the concepts and features of Smartphones and tablets with the ease-of-use and clean look of modern car dashboards. The automaker plans to roll out the concept on its XC90 model later this year. As well as being stocked to the brim, it also features modern Swedish design influenced bucket seats and plush wool carpeting.

Bentley Continental GT Speed

Luxury automaker Bentley is going to be introducing what it’s calling its “fastest production model ever,” at the 2014 Geneva show. Dubbed the Continental GT Speed, it features a twin-turbocharged 6-litre W-12 engine, which delivers an astounding 626 horsepower and 607 pound-feet of torque. We’re talking top speeds of almost 330 km/h! It’s also offered in a convertible version, which can get up to a slightly lower, but still mindblowing 320km/h.

Featuring an eight-speed manual transmission and the ability to rocket from 0 to 60 in about four seconds flat, it’s not hard to see that this automotive beauty is already filling people with envy.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg; there are a plethora of beautiful vehicles and technology that are yet to be unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and we couldn’t be more excited!
