World Car of the Year (WCOTY) or The World Car Awards has been awarding the industry’s top vehicles since it was established in 2004. Every year since, car lovers around the world await the announcement of the vehicles that made the cut in five different categories: overall World Car of the Year, World Performance Car, World Green Car, World Car Design of the Year, and World Luxury Car. This year at the Geneva Motor Show, WCOTY announced 2017’s finalists for World Car of the Year: Audi Q5, Jaguar F-Pace, and Volkswagen Tiguan. All of which are SUVs, reflecting the growing demand for SUV and crossover models.

All contenders for the WCOTY are chosen by a group of 48 automotive journalists from 22 various countries. To qualify, the vehicle must be sold in either two continents or five different countries before January 1st of the awards year.

The 2.0 TSFI boasts a top speed of 209 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Its 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque is sure to impress any pro with auto mechanic certification. The 3.0 TSFI is a more premium option with an acceleration speed of 6.2 seconds, 295 lb-ft of torque, and 272 horsepower.

In its interior, the Q5 has enough cool technology to satisfy any car enthusiast. Pros with Auto Mechanic Certification Will Want to Get Under the Hood of The Jaguar F-Pace

Any auto-lover knows that Jaguar is renowned for its ultra sleek, luxury cars. That’s why the Jaguar F-Pace performance SUV is a welcome addition to its product line. Not only does this vehicle offer the convenience of an SUV and the drivability of a classic Jaguar, but it also allows drivers to take advantage of both practicality and luxury. Anyone training to become a certified mechanic will be impressed once they have a look under the hood of an F-Pace, which is available with either a diesel engine or a gasoline engine. Either option comes equipped with regenerative braking technology that maximizes fuel economy, but the four-cylinder diesel engine has a horsepower of 247 and 269 lb-feet of torque. The Jaguar F-Pace can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 217 km/h.

Amongst the three finalists, the Volkswagen Tiguan is the most affordable option. Auto professionals know that the Tiguan is a family-friendly, attractive SUV that performs well. Its 2.0 TSI engine supplies 200 horsepower and 207 lb-foot of torque. Although the car’s performance specs are less impressive than its two competitors, the 6-speed automatic Volkswagen Tiguan makes up for it in design and features. The vehicles interior feels luxurious with genuine leather seating and a panoramic sunroof that easily rivals the Audi Q5’s. The Tiguan has a 6.33 inch touch screen infotainment system equipped with app-connect.
