In an industry as large and important as the B.C. automotive industry, there is always a lot going on. This is especially true these last couple of years, with many people believing we are entering something of a golden age for the local auto industry. As we’ve said in the past, with many new technological advances, and resurgent manufacturing and service sectors, now is a great time to invest in an automotive training program.
Here are some of the very latest B.C. auto industry news items:
Audi Works With Sierra Wireless
Audi will be using Sierra Wireless’ AirPrime™ embedded wireless modules. This will help them develop and test an LTE-connected infotainment system. Still in the development and testing stage, the system has been showcased at several industry events this year, including the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January, and CeBIT in Hanover, Germany, in March. The Richmond-based Sierra Wireless offers industry-leading mobile computing and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications products and solutions that connect people, devices, and applications over cellular networks.
The BCAA Wants Your Used Batteries
The British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) is conducting its third annual Great Battery Roundup program, which collects used automotive batteries and arranges for them to be properly recycled. From June 6 to June 19, you can drop off your old batteries at Fountain Tire centres across the province. The BCAA will also pick up batteries from homes and offices within the Lower Mainland.
Langley Loafers host Old-time Drags and Straight-Axle Shootout
Looking for some hot-rodding fun? You’re in luck: The 25th Annual Langley Loafers Old-Time drags and the Straight-Axle Shootout will be held this weekend at the Ashcroft race track. Just make sure to bring your earplugs!
