A Guide To The 2023 Kia Soul EV For Automotive School Grads

Cars in the Kia Soul line are simple and practical, imbued with an unconventional, boxy aesthetic that adds a certain level of charm to them. This year’s EV iteration doesn’t stray too far away from the norm, design-wise, remaining cohesive and eye-catching without ever appearing fussy.

The Soul’s standout style, combined with its practical body and feature-packed interior, sets it apart from other affordable EVs in the market. What’s more, Kia provides an impressive 8-year/150,000 km warranty for its electric vehicles, offering added peace of mind for new buyers.

For new automotive school grads, the 2023 Kia Soul EV represents an interesting and valuable addition to the hybrid and electric vehicle industry, which makes it well worthy of note. This blog post provides a guide to this impressive vehicle.

Automotive School Provides Skills For Defining Design

The 2023 Kia Soul EV boasts a sleek and distinctive design, combining the iconic Soul styling with modern electric capabilities. Kia decided to give the gasoline-powered models of the 2023 Soul a physical makeover (headlined by a new grille and bumper designs), but the EV version stays true to its original design.

With its distinctive boxy shape, the Kia Soul EV stands out as one of the most practical compact EVs available today. The vehicle provides ample cargo space, offering 663 litres behind the rear seats, which expands to a generous 1,735 litres when the rear seats are folded down. While the front seats of the Korean hatchback are spacious and comfortable, the rear seats are more suitable for children or teenagers, prioritizing passenger comfort in the front cabin.

Automotive Training Enhances the Understanding of Performance

The Soul EV is available in two trims, each offering distinct performance characteristics. The Soul EV Premium is equipped with a 39 kWh battery, paired with a motor that delivers 134 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque. Powering the front wheels, this configuration allows for a range of 248 km.

On the other hand, the Soul EV Limited boasts a larger 64 kWh battery and a more robust motor, generating 201 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque. In truth, that doesn’t sound like much. However, the Soul EV excels in its blend of efficiency and precision, two factors that may hold greater significance than sheer range alone, which you’ll explore in hybrid and electrical mechanic training

When it comes to charging, the Kia Soul EV can be connected to a DC fast-charging station with a maximum capacity of 100 kW. According to the manufacturer, under ideal conditions, the vehicle can go from 10% to 80% charge in approximately 50 minutes.

Tech and Safety Features on the Electric Vehicle

In addition to their electric powertrain variances, the two trims of the Soul EV also feature different levels of equipment. However, even the base model offers a notable array of features. Standard amenities include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic climate control with an energy-saving driver-only mode, a touchscreen infotainment system, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and built-in navigation with the ability to locate nearby charging stations.

Automotive school grads can explore the Kia Soul EV's safety features
The Kia Soul EV boasts several safety features, as you’ll discover in automotive school.

As you’ll discover in automotive school, both trims of the Soul EV prioritize safety with six airbags, a rear occupant alert system, lane following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, and junction turn assist. Additional safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Kia’s highway drive assist system for automated steering inputs.
