A government requirement for technicians who service automotive air conditioning systems.
Ozone Depletion CFC Certification Course
This is the first course in a (government-regulated) Air Conditioning series and is a requirement for any technician who services automotive air conditioning systems.
The course content and manual cover environmentally correct equipment design and the proper handling of CFC/HCFC/HFC and the environmental awareness of ozone depleting substances.
The course is designed to prepare students in complying with provincial regulations covering refrigeration and air conditioning systems; and is based on Environment Canada's "Code of Practice for Reducing CFC Emissions in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems".
This course is suitable for all automotive, RV, residential, commercial and industrial, applications as students will learn the regulations and methods on how to handle Freon from A/C systems.
Certification
This course leads to a certificate issued by The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI). The certificate is valid in all provinces and does not expire. Training in this course recognized as an ICBC C.A.R. shop upgrading course.
Note: The certification is required to purchase Freon or to operate an A/C business.
Instruction Hours and Class Times
Duration: 7 hours. The program is offered on Saturdays, (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Please see course schedules below for more info.
Campus: Surrey, BC (Vancouver)
Program Prerequisites:
The applicant must be 19 years old or be a high school graduate to enter this program.
This course is a mandatory requirement of the Apprenticeship program (second year).
