Memorable Cars in the Movies Part 2 (2000s-)

memorable care in the movies 2

The wait is finally over! You may have enjoyed our list of memorable movie cars from 1950-2000, but now we’re heading into this century. So without any further ado, here are some of the most memorable vehicles from the last 15 years of celluloid:

Dom’s Dodge Charger from The Fast and the Furious

The sheer volume of cool cars in just one Fast and Furious movie is enough to make an auto sales college graduate blush. Choosing the most memorable one from the entire franchise is quite the feat. However, there is a car that has some standout heroic qualities, and that’s the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T driven by Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).

It was built by Dom’s father and was resurrected after being wrecked in the first film. You can see it in action near the end of this trailer for the original The Fast and the Furious:

Nancy’s Bel Air from Sin City

If you like classic cars, then you probably loved Sin City, the Robert Rodriguez screen version of Frank Miller’s graphic novels of the same name. In order to meet the black and white pulp look that runs throughout, Rodriguez brought in some seriously vintage vehicles. There’s a 1937 Cadillac Fleetwood, a 1962 Jaguar XK-E, and a 1958 Volkswagen Station Wagon. But the most memorable car from the film has to be the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad driven by Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba). As she told John Hartigan (Bruce Willis), she’s the only one who “can keep this heap running.”

Bumblebee from Transformers

When people think Transformers, the first name that may spring to mind is Optimus Prime, who is certainly memorable for his character and especially that voice. But the truth is, his vehicle form (an autonomous truck that would no doubt give dispatch training grads a tough time) is simply not as interesting as Bumblebee’s.

He began as a Volkswagen Bug in the 1980s cartoon series, but was a 1975 Chevrolet Camaro at the start of the first Michael Bay live action film. He soon scans a new Camaro design and transforms into it:

The Batmobile from the Dark Knight Trilogy

The Batmobile has gone through some changes over the years. Its latest isn’t even referred to by name in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, though it is called the Batmobile several times in the script. This car does not exist in reality (yet). It has best been described as a cross between a Lambourghini and a tank, so it must be both extremely fast and extremely tough, which sounds about right for a superhero who relies almost exclusively on gadgets.

The RV from Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad may not be a movie, but cable TV shows these days have quite the cinematic quality about them. This show, in particular, has a few really memorable cinematic vehicles. There’s Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) Pontiac Aztec, which does have its moments – also don’t forget the Chrysler 300 SRT8. But the most memorable vehicle from the series is the Beige 1986 Fleetwood Bounder RV that Walt and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) convert into a mobile meth lab. In case you were wondering if they actually had an automotive service technician come in and install a (fake) meth lab inside the RV – well no, they didn’t. Paul explains:
